A: My dad, Mike Hinson.

Q: Who was your first mentor in real estate?

A: Scott Woodhams

Q: What is your favorite book?

A: The Walking Drum by Louis L’Amour and Atlas Shrugged by Ann Rand

Q: What is the best lesson you have learned in real estate?

A: Buy one at a time and get it working. Don’t do a subject-to sandwiched with a lease-to-own. Real estate is supposed to be boring.

Q: How many properties do you own?

A: Not enough.

Q: When did you start investing?

A: Real estate: 2008. Stocks, MF, etc.: 1995

Q: Why do you Invest?

A: To spend more time with my family.

Q: What is the best advice you have received?

A: This week: “You Harvard-types need to stop worrying about the numbers and focus on helping people.”- Don Morant.

Q: Do you have a favorite podcast?

A: Really, it’s YouTube for me. I’m not plugged into podcasts. Some of my current favorites: Joe Rogan Experience, Jordan Peterson, John Wineland, and David Deida and Before the Train Wreck with Richard Cooper

Q: Any hobbies?

A: Riding motorcycles, skiing, shooting sports, and working on my property.

Q: What is the best advice you could give someone else?

A: Don’t over think and over plan. Get your first deal and everything else will fall into place.

Q: Is there a place for you where time slows down?

A: At a nice cabin by a lake, or an outdoor cafe drinking coffee while reading a book.

A: In August 2009. I cold-called an Auben Homes advertisement in the Iwanta, and talked to Tyson about local REIAs in the area.

A: investing in businesses

Q: If you were to start over_______.

A: I have started over a few times, and it keeps getting better each time I do. Don’t be afraid to walk way from something that’s good enough for something great.
